Pianist
Yuriko Watanabe
Began playing the piano at the age of six, she started her professional piano career at the age of thirteen in the UK at the Purcell School for Young Musicians with a British government scholarship. She has since practiced around the globe in Tokyo, Heidelberg, Weimar, Karlsruhe and Budapest -- including at the Tokyo Gakugei University, the Liszt Ferenz Academy of Music Budapest, University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar, and Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe.
Studied under Prof. Yuko Matsumura, Prof. Nagako Suzuki, Prof. Valeria Szervanszky, Prof. Shinichi Shiino, Prof. Hartmut Höll and Prof. Mitsuko Shirai; Brahms Scholar in 2021, Seiji Ozawa International Academy in 2022, Heidelberg Lieder Academy, SongStudio at Carnegie Hall, New York in 2023 and others.
Her award record include the 3rd Prize, International Art Song Competition; 3rd Prize, 13th International Lieder Art Competition Stuttgart; 3rd Prize, Dvorak International Competition; Special Prize and Audience Prize, Robert Schumann International Music Competition Zwickau, President's Prize at the Tokyo Gakugei University, and the Excellent Accompanist Prize at the 2nd Nikko International Music Festival Vocal Music Competition, among others.
She is currently a lecturer at the Franz Liszt Weimar College of Music and the Freiburg University of Music in Germany.
